Who this is all for...

278 miles, 10 wheels, 4 days, 2 cities... all for Sands (Stillbirth and neonatal death charity) because they offer incredible support at the toughest of times.

Why Sands?

The death of a baby is not rare. Every day in the UK around 15 babies die before, during or soon after birth. That means every 90 minutes a family is faced with the devastation of the death of their baby.

Sadly, last year Rachel's niece Charlie sadly passed away on her due date. In stepped Sands to support her family - the most amazing support in the most devastating of times.

The death of a baby has a profound and lasting impact on parents and the wider family. Sands support steps in from the moment the news
is received and continues for many years to come. They provide training for midwives, rooms away from maternity wards for privacy, chilled cots for time with your baby and memory boxes to provide tangible memories. They are also researching to find out more about the reasons for these losses and lobby for changes to protocol and law to support their findings.
